Partnership aims to develop the sense of creativity for the younger generations
Doha, Nov 28, 2017 - KidZania Doha, the multi award-winning edutainment concept, and Fairytale Salon, the First exclusive spa for kids in Qatar, have signed a partnership agreement to create a Kid-sized realistic “Beauty Salon" inside KidZania Doha.
The collaboration between KidZania Doha and Fairytale Salon aims to educate children about hygiene, personal appearance and develop their artistic sense.
In the ‘Beauty Salon’, little girls will take on the role of a make-up artist or hairstylist and be trained on how to give the coolest make-up look or hairstyle. Another option if children preferred to have a new look, they can become customers and enjoy a range of spa services, using their earned kidZos money.
The partnership between KidZania Doha and Fairytale Salon is to empower the young Qatari entrepreneurs and national brands to promote skills, values and positive qualities in an entertaining way for our children through a role-play based educational environment.

Partnership designed to educate kids about the importance of water, and nurture interest in science
Doha, Nov 21, 2017 - KidZania Doha, the award-winning edutainment concept, and Rayyan Natural Water Company, Qatar’s largest national supplier of natural mineral water, have signed a partnership agreement to create a Kid-sized “Water Lab" inside KidZania Doha.
The collaboration between KidZania Doha and Rayyan Water Company aims to educate children about Water Sourcing, processing operations and promote value of science.
In the ‘Water Lab’, children will take on the role of a water biologist, learning about the journey of the mineral water and how it is sourced, and conducting a series of tests before proceeding to bottle the water. also, Kids will engage in delivering bottled natural waters to other establishments. At the end of each activity, children will be given free bottles of water to encourage a healthy lifestyle and enjoy the fruit of their work with kidZos (KidZania’s currency) earned.

Through its presence in KidZania Doha, Qatar Red Crescent establishment will encourage children to participate in volunteer work, promote good values and helping others. where supervisors will give training to children on how to collect donations from various operating establishments in the city of KidZania to serve their communities.
Donations will be raised through several points within KidZania Doha, where it will either be in form of products from other KidZania facilities or donations boxes distributed all over the city. Furthermore, the efforts of the young fundraisers will also be rewarded with their salary from KidZania’s currency “KidZos”.
Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al-Hammadi, Secretary General of the Qatar Red Crescent, said that this agreement is to establish the partnership between Qatar Red Crescent and Tasali, aiming to launch Qatar Red Crescent establishment inside the city of KidZania Doha to welcome young visitors and train them in various areas of charitable activities, social services and volunteerism.

KidZania Doha recently shared its philosophy of creating a fun and learning environment for all ages by organising a family sports day for the employees of Sharaka Holdings, the majority stake holders in Tasali. The event took place at the Racing & Equestrian Club on April 6th 2017
Sharaka Holdings’ employees and their families took part in the sports day, participating in a range of fun activities, including crazy basketball and volleyball. Other activities included face painting, pony rides, pony & trap, mini train, a bouncy castle and a fashion show for the younger family members. The day concluded with an exciting horse race.

QNL’s decision to establish an area inside KidZania Doha aligns with the Library’s mission to create and sustain trusted educational environments and to develop innovative programs for children using technology and culture as key learning tools.

‘Children can only aspire to what they know exists’ is Dr. Graus’ mantra and he sees KidZania’s approach to education and entertainment as a significant piece in the large jigsaw which portrays a better world with endless horizons for the people who deserve it most: our children.
Why is it important for KidZania to participate in education exhibitions like EdEx?
For a couple of reasons. One is because they are showcases. You have a whole cross-section of people who are interested in education, from teachers to teacher’s assistants, principals to people from organizations like WISE or Qatar Foundation. People turn up and you have the chance to essentially exhibit what you are and what you stand for. Secondly, I think because erroneously many people think of KidZania as a theme park rather than an organization with an educational intention. For us, to be perceived as a theme park, to be in educational exhibition is also making a point.
What’s KidZania’s global education strategy?
Essentially, what you’ve got to remember is when you bring KidZania somewhere where people haven’t heard of it, the concept is quite alien to people, so the strategy needs to become known and credible so that for the benefit of the children, we can provide. That’s the first part of it. You then focus on a number of points. Unashamedly, you focus on children. Actually, you tell the grown-ups, ‘You are here to be seen and not heard. We don’t want to listen to you, we want to listen to the children.’ It is about learning rather than being taught. It’s about experience and calculated risk-taking. In a school, everything is predetermined. You will start at 9 am and finish at 4 pm. The first class will be English and the second lesson will be maths. At KidZania, you literally go in — it’s a safe environment — but after that, it is your choice. And your choices are your consequences, so it’s your risk. And if you don’t like it, you better work out why you don’t like it in your head and formulate that I’m not doing it again.
So it’s the strategy then it’s around children, learning and partnerships. Because the other thing, you can’t do it on your own. You do it with industry partners because they bring reality … like a real pilot and a real airplane and we know from the children, for example from research, children prefer branded activities, not because they
like the brand as an advertising thing but when you say to a kid, ‘Did you like that activity?’ They go, ‘Yes, I liked it.’ ‘Why did you like it?’ ‘Because it’s British Airways.’ It wouldn’t be the same if it were KidZania Airways because KidZania Airways isn’t real.
So it is about children, learning and partnerships with schools, industry partners, etc. And it’s about evaluation and analysis. The reason it’s about evaluation and analysis, you have to prove that you make a difference. You have to prove your impact. But there’s a very important point to make and I’m often asked the question, ‘Is KidZania entertainment or education? Is it fun or is it education?’ I think it’s one of the saddest questions I get asked because the implication is you can’t have education that’s fun. I think KidZania sits where education and entertainment meet.
How has KidZania’s approach to education and entertainment enhanced children’s lives?
Children can only aspire to what they know exists. Our global research shows it. So very crudely put, if you are poor, you are deprived. You have therefore little access to experience, you ‘know’ little. If you have no books at home, the chances of you wanting to become a librarian are slim. So the contribution KidZania makes is it broadens horizons. And by broadening horizons, it raises aspirations. That is its single biggest contribution. And it doesn’t do that in a way that is taught, it does that in a way that is learned. And it doesn’t do it in a classroom, it does it in an environment. We have to remember that the environment is the third teacher.
What role should adults, such as parents or teachers who accompany their children, play in KidZania?
I think we need to think of every adult who ‘touches’ a child’s learning, every adult who does that is a teacher so parents, grandparents, neighbor’s, employers, sports coaches and teachers are teachers. That’s how we need to see ourselves. The role we need to play in an experience like KidZania is we need to facilitate for the children to be able to learn for themselves. Rather than teachers, we become facilitators. We are enablers. We empower the children to essentially begin to write their own narratives.
KidZania is around the world, in at least 19 countries. How will KidZania Doha contribute to the edutainment sector in Doha?
I’m very keen for children to be aware of where they live and increasingly that’s a very small place called Earth. And when children grow up, they’ll work for global companies in different countries and all those things. They’ll study elsewhere, etc. But also in this complicated world that we occupy at the moment full of strife, which we as grown-ups have created, there is hope that if children connected with children elsewhere, that there might be a little more understanding and more friendliness towards each other. I think that’s a very laudable thing that we need to aspire to.
How will KidZania Doha contribute to the Doha world so to speak or to the Qatar world?
As a piece of a jigsaw. It is important as a piece of a jigsaw, not as a big picture, because the big picture is the development of the child or children in which schools have a role to play parents. But KidZania also has a role to play because for some children, we will be the spark that ignites them. For other children, we will be a brilliant time spent. In that sense, our role is part of a bigger role that is about the development, education and wellbeing of the children, in some cases in a greater degree and in other cases in a small degree. So is it important? Yes it is!
What will KidZania offer that other edutainment destinations don’t?
It stands out because of where it’s positioned. It is neither nor. It’s not a theme park and neither is it a museum. It is a learning experience that does both and that is very firmly grounded in education, not in schooling. I think that’s where it stands out. I’m often asked who are your competitors? And I genuinely believe anywhere in the world, in terms of where people spend their dollar, there are lots of competitors. In terms of what we stand for, I think we’re unique. I genuinely believe there are no competitors and I like the idea that we don’t have to compete with that, we’re part of a jigsaw.
KidZania Doha is the fifth KidZania in the region. What was your thought process for opening KidZania in the Middle East? What cultural differences did you expect to counter?
What is really, really important is, and it goes for any good franchise, I think, you know the coloring books you buy for children? So that’s what a franchise model is. Somebody has drawn the picture but how you colour that depends on your context. You may use different colours. Some people have water colours and some children have crayons and some children just have pens. It’s all okay because it’s coloured into the context and the social cultural context of where those children are. The bit that would worry me if KidZania Doha was the same as KidZania Dubai or KidZania London. We would have a problem because we would not recognise the uniqueness of social cultural uniqueness of Qatar and that just would be really wrong.

تحت شعار "بالعلم نبني قطر".. تنطلق غداً فعاليات حملة العودة للمدارس بمقرها الثاني بكيدزانيا الدوحة التي تقع خلف حياة بلازا؛ استعداداً لاستقبال العام الأكاديمي 2019/2020م، وذلك من الساعة 3 عصراً حتى الساعة 10 مساءً، ما عدا في عطلة نهاية الأسبوع حتى الساعة 11 مساءً.. حيث بدأت أولى فعاليات حملة العودة للمدارس في قطر مول يوم الجمعة الماضي الموافق 16/8/2019م وتستمر حتى يوم السبت الموافق 24/8/2019م في كلا المقرين بالتعاون مع (فريق قطر التوعوي الموحد)، و (صحتك أولاً) من وايل كورنيل للطب في قطر، وبمشاركة مع شركة مواصلات (كروة)

A partnership specially built and designed to educate children about the importance of water and its process, and to cultivate their interest in science
October 14, 2019 - KidZania Doha, a multi award-winning learning and entertainment brand, and Rayyan Natural Water Company, Qatar’s largest national supplier of natural mineral water, finally announced the launch of the project – a kid-sized Water Lab inside the city of KidZania Doha.
A press conference lead by Qatar Entertainment Company (Tasali) Board Member, H.E. Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Ahmed Al Thani, and Al Rabban Holding Managing Partner, Mr. Khalifa Al Rabban, took place at the KidZania Doha facility, which was then followed by the signing of the Partnership Agreement and Ribbon Cutting in front of the Water Lab establishment marking its official inauguration.
The collaboration between the two topnotch companies aims to educate the children of Qatar about the importance and value of water through letting them in on the process of water sourcing and manufacturing, while promoting and boosting science literacy.
In the ‘Water Lab’, children will take on the role of a water biologist and will learn about the journey of the mineral water, from sourcing it through conducting a series of tests to making the finish product. Besides this, children will also experience delivering Rayyan bottled waters to other establishments. At the end of each activity, they will take home the bottled water they made and receive KidZos (KidZania’s currency) as their fruit of work.
This partnership between highly-reputable companies is part of KidZania’s desire and vision to provide a realistic and unique learning environment for children that is both fun and educational through role-playing, in which the expertise and skills of international and local brands are used as an asset in providing an all-out experience.

Doha - 30th October, The Ministry of Transport and Communications signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KidZania Doha to provide a foundation for both parties to benefit from each other’s expertise, resources, and initiatives to empower and promote digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness. الدوحة، قطر، 28 أكتوبر 2019: وقّع مركز قطر للتطوير المهني، عضو مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، اتفاقية شراكة خاصة تجمعه مع كيدزانيا الدوحة، تتضمن افتتاح مركز تعليمي ترفيهي خاص يحمل اسم "مركز التطوير المهني" ضمن المدينة التفاعلية المخصصة للأطفال، والتي تجمع بين الإلهام والمرح والتعلم من خلال لعب الأدوار الواقعية للأطفال.
أقيم حفل التوقيع وافتتاح المركز الجديد التابع لمركز قطر للتطوير المهني في كيدزانيا الدوحة، اليوم، في مسرح كيدزانيا الدوحة، بحضور كل من السيد عبدالله المنصوري، المدير التنفيذي لمركز قطر للتطوير المهني، والسيد خالد علي المولوي، عضو مجلس إدارة شركة قطر الترفيهية (تسالي)، بحضور السيد محمد خليفة السويدي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة أسباير زون، والسيد ريك فيرنت، محافظ كيدزانيا الدوحة.
ويهدف "مركز التطوير المهني" الجديد في كيدزانيا إلى تعريف الأطفال بمفهوم التخطيط المهني، ومساعدتهم على استكشاف المسار المهني الأمثل لمستقبلهم بطريقة تعليمية وترفيهية في آن واحد، وكذلك وتدريبهم على إيجاد خيارات مهنية تتوافق مع اهتماماتهم وقدراتهم.
وعلّق السيد عبدالله المنصوري، المدير التنفيذي لمركز قطر للتطوير المهني، بالقول: "من المهم أن نعمل على غرس ثقافة التوجيه المهني لدي الأطفال منذ سن مبكرة، بحيث يكبرون وهم مدركون لطاقاتهم وتوجهاتهم المهنية للمستقبل. وهذا التعاون يقع في صميم الجهود التي تبذلها مؤسسة قطر في إرساء هذه الثقافة بين أفراد المجتمع، من خلال عقد الشراكات والجهود التعاونية مع جميع الجهات القادرة على المساهمة في تحقيق هذه الأهداف لما فيه صالح الشباب والدولة".
ويستهدف "مركز التطوير المهني" الأطفال من عمر 4 سنوات وحتى 14 عامًا، حيث يقدم لهم مجموعة من الأنشطة المسلية والمفيدة التي تساعدهم على معرفة اهتماماتهم وقدراتهم، وتحديد المهن الأقرب إلى توجهاتهم. كما سيقدم فعاليات مهنية مخصصة، مثل مساعدة الأطفال على كتابة السيرة الذاتية وطباعتها وفقاً لاهتماماتهم وتطلعاتهم المهنية.
من جهته، اعتبر السيد خالد علي المولوي، عضو مجلس إدارة شركة قطر الترفيهية (تسالي): "تعد شراكتنا مع مركز قطر للتطوير المهني إضافة هامة لمدينة كيدزانيا الدوحة داعمة لها في رسالتها التي تهدف لرفع سقف طموحات الأطفال ودمجهم في الحياة العملية واثارة شغفهم بثقافة العمل والتعرف على ميولهم منذ الصغر لتنمية مهاراتهم بما يتناسب مع قدراتهم ويأتي كل هذا في سياق ترفيهي محبب لأطفالنا عن طريق لعب الأدوار وهذا ما تجيده كيدزانيا بسياقها التعليمي الشيق".

As part of the Doha Learning Days, KidZania Doha and WISE gave life to an engaging workshop designed especially for educators.
18th November 2019 – KidZania Doha, a multi award-winning learning and entertainment brand, and World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an international initiative aimed at transforming education through innovation, team up to build a workshop designed especially for the educators of Qatar.
Committed to its vision, KidZania Doha aims to enrich the educational scene through this event partnered with WISE and Doha Learning Days. With the theme, “The Role We Play: Building a Creative Approach to Social Mobility,” the workshop aims to give emphasis on the importance of role play in the learning process of children and on how they will be able to build a creative approach to social mobility.
The KidZania Edu Zummit 2019 took place inside the city of KidZania Doha with over a hundred of educators participating from all over Qatar.
Dr. Ger Graus OBE, who is a renowned figure in the field of education and is also the Global Director of Education of KidZania, serves as the keynote speaker of the event. He was the founding CEO of Children’s University which is now a multiple-award winning international charity providing exciting and innovative learning opportunities outside school hours.
Dr Ger said ”it was very important for me today to be here today, and to see the exemplary practice at KidZania Doha, where we brought together teachers and representatives from the world of work of explore and discuss the important skills components that will determine how successful our young people will be in the years to come, and I cannot wait to come back and work with KidZania Doha further”
Dr Ger was joined by the presence of Ms. Muna Al Sulaiti, Head of Local Department of Qatar Red Crescent, and Capt. Ahmed El Said, Manager Cadet Pilot Program of Qatar Airways, Dr. Taj Kardaman, Qatar Career Development Centre as the panelists for the panel discussion.
KidZania EDU ZUMMIT is an initiative by KidZania Global and a tradition, to start this year in Doha, the summit aims to provide a platform for collaborators and educators to discuss and share their insights and knowledge when it comes to children’s learning – overcoming emerging challenges and providing a roadmap to our understanding of the future of the younger generation.
As part of the workshop, a question and answer segment then follow the panel discussion, and in order to enhance the experience and to discover the many educational benefits of role play, the educators participated in the Hands on Role-play experience as they try out the activities in the city establishments of KidZania Doha.

DOHA, Qatar - Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) organised a fun day to KidZania for 30 children living with cancer in cooperation with Qatar Airways as part of their continuous efforts to give back to the community.
This initiative is part of the children living with cancer’s support program that was launched by QCS to empower children diagnosed with cancer and to provide emotional support to the children and their families.
Qatar Cancer Society Chairman His Excellency Shk. Dr. Khalid Bin Jabor Al Thani, said: “QCS's participation in this event was a continuation of its efforts towards support, empower and advocate for individuals living with cancer in addition to raising awareness of the disease and ways to prevent it and emphasize the importance of early detection.
He stressed the organisation's keenness to organise and participate in all events that helped achieve its vision to be the community partnership platform for making Qatar a leader in cancer prevention and its burden control, as well as its mission to achieve its goals through working with its partners to educate the community and support, empower and advocate for individuals living with cancer.”

It was a joyful afternoon at KidZania, which gave the children living with cancer a chance to enjoy the child sized interactive city, which is aimed at inspiring them through role playing activities. Furthermore, the Qatar Airways branded Aviation Academy gave an opportunity for the children living with cancer to immerse themselves in the world of aviation and travel by taking on job roles such as pilots and cabin crew. He added .
The fun day started with the arrival of the children living with cancer and their families to KidZania, where they were greeted by Qatar Airways and KidZania mascots who distributed bags of goodies to the children, provided by Qatar Duty Free.
